Part of our job with marketing is to stay on top of the current trends, what works, what doesn’t, etc. It’s simple. If we are in the know, then our clients are in the know. That being said, I wanted to share a few statistics with you for 2020.

One of the common questions asked is “what about other social media?” The easiest answer is…it depends on your business. While it is true that younger generations utilize Instagram, Twitter, YouTube or even Tik Tok, the primary avenue for most companies is Facebook and Instagram. That is where you get the most for the almighty dollar. More users and a wider demographic.

Reverting back to the last statistic about adults, social media is still widely popular among the generations who will be the ones purchasing your products. When your penetration for the lowest generation is nearly half, that is a pretty good place to be.
- Average Time Spent on Social Media Per User is Over 2 Hours
2:22 is the exact figure of what we spend on social on average. Nearly 10% of people’s days are spent on social media. That is a remarkable number. That means you have ample opportunity to capture that audience.
- 54% of Social Browsers Use Social Media to Research Products
Social media (mainly Facebook) along with Google are both second to none in terms of where consumers are going to find products. Each time someone searches for similar products to yours, that is an opportunity to capture their attentions with advertisements. That is not something you should miss out on. If you have a store front, I am sure it is not a great feeling when someone enters and then leaves without a purchase. Same concept on social. People are window shopping. With the right strategies, you can find them and capture them. Thanks big brother.

Word of mouth is still one of the most effective ways for more business. Now instead of one person telling 2-3 friends, they post and tell 1,200 friends. Bottom line, having a great online relationship with your consumers is part of the equation.

Being available to people on smart phones is the new drive time. Billboards and radio used to be the way to come across most people. Now, get on the lifelines of people which is their smartphones in 2020.
